Sethpal Singh, a Padma Shri awardee in 2021, has transformed water chestnut (Singhada) farming by successfully growing it on his field, challenging the common belief that it can only be cultivated in ponds. Singh demonstrated that water chestnuts can thrive in a flat field with just one foot of water. His innovative methods in Saharanpur district, Uttar Pradesh, have boosted yields, reduced water usage, and inspired other farmers to adopt similar techniques. Singh's dedication to sustainable farming practices and his contribution to agricultural innovation have earned him widespread recognition. He does cow-based natural farming and inspires his fellow farmers to do the same. Sethpal Singh has also been honoured with many awards.
